Uprated rear shock spring Yamaha Tenere 700, black

Uprated rear shock spring Yamaha Tenere 700, black

Linear Uprated Shock Spring for Yamaha Tenere 700 in black colour

Most rider of the Tenere 700 will have found out that the OEM standard spring is too weak for "normal" rider weights. The spring oft the Kayaba shock has only 70 N/mm ex works. This spring rate is suitable for a rider with about 70 kg weight, not including additional load like luggage, accessories or passenger.

With the original spring it's impossible to adjust to the correct bike sag if you have a weight more than ~70 kg with gear.

Adventure bikes static sag should be about 10% of the suspension travel (200 mm / 10% = 20 mm) when the bike is unloaded

The rider sag sould be about 30% of the overall suspension travel (200 mm / 30% = 66 mm) when the bike is loaded and ready to drive including rider.

The above settings are guidelines only, and some riders may have better ‘feel’ and speed with alternative settings, also different setting might be used when riding different grounds like sands or rocks..

With the offered springs, which are available in different rates up to 95 N/mm, the adjustment of the correct sag for touring and Adventure use is no longer a problem - even when fully loaded.
The integrated hydraulic spring preload of the oem shock allows to add 10 mm preload. This corresponds to an extra load of about 50-60 kg. Than can be extra luggage, a passenger or a heavier rider.

Facts:

  • Spring rate 80 - 95 N/mm avaiable
  • Linear spring type for Adventure, off-road and road use
  • Spring length 245 mm
  • Spring black plastic coated
  • Direct fit to the oem shock, no adapters needed
  • A spring compressor is required for assembly

Advise for correct spring rate selection:

Rider weight always includes clothing 'ready to ride'. Additional weight due to e.g. pannier racks, pannier, topcase, softluggage should also be taken into account.

Weight on the front, such as crash bars or bash plates plays a minor role, as this weight influences mostly the rate of the front suspension.

Extra load up to 55 kg (luggage and/or passenger or heavier rider) can be added to each spring by adjusting the preload adjuster to max (10 mm)

  • 80 N/mm   -   1 step   harder than OEM - Rider weight up to 75 kg  + max. 50 kg luggage
  • 85 N/mm   -   2 steps harder than OEM - Rider weight up to 85 kg + max. 50 kg luggage
  • 90 N/mm   -   3 steps harder than OEM - Rider weight up to 95 kg + lightweight passenger and / or some light luggage
  • 95 N/mm   -   4 steps harder than OEM - Rider weight above 100 kg + passenger and / or heavy luggage luggage

  • Yamaha Tenere 700 Rally Edition 2020 - 2024

Please note:

If you have lowered or rised the bike with changed linkage bones, this must be taken into account when selecting the spring rate.

For a 20 mm lowering, the selected spring rate should be about 10% higher, for 30 mm about 12% higher, for 40 mm about 15% higher and for 50 mm about 18% higher.

For a 20 mm rising, the selected spring rate should be about 10% lower.

E.g.: Rider weight "ready to ride" 90 kg, installed lowering 20 mm - spring rate to be selected 85 N/mm + 10% = 93.5 N/mm. In this case a 90 N/mm spring would be correct.

In case of doubt, always choose the lower spring rate. Too much sag can always be compensated by a slightly higher preload. If the sag is too small when the spring preload is completely reduced (the spring rate is too high), this cannot be changed anymore. Than a spring with lower rate is needed

Hyperpro fork springs Yamaha Tenere 700 2019 - 2024
Hyperpro fork springs Yamaha Tenere 700 2019 - 2024

Available, delivery time: 1-3 days

HYPERPRO Fork Springs Yamaha Tenere 700 / Rally Edition 2019 - 2024   The coiling for the Tenere 700 is linear-progressive, that means that the progression increases continuously (linearly). Both the range and the extensive test programme using a computer-operated test-bench which simulates the hardest driving situations guarantee that, in combination with the series spring elements, you are driving the optimal solution for your Tenere ! HYPERPRO-Exchange Springs live up to their promise of being ingenious fork springs!   HYPERPRO-Forksprings distinguish themselves by their continuous increase of the spring rate (Link-System Curve) in the whole range. They have been especially developed and tested for the Tenere. The manufacturing process has been made perfect: First-class, high-alloyed chrome-silicon-steel is used exclusivley. It is nearly tolerance freely coiled on computer-operated machines. The manufacturing is carried out according to DIN 2095. At the end, the outside of the springs is polished in order to achieve a minimal friction value. Of course, the forkspring sets are delivered with a ABE Certificate.   The fork springs are delivered with 2 liter fork oil!   Why progressive springs? Using a linear, "normal" standard spring, all turns of the spring get loaded with the same weight at the same time. Imagine a spring with 10 turns at intervals of 1 cm - if you push the spring down 1 cm it shortens 1 cm, thus, the intervals between the single turns shorten to 0.9 cm. Using a two-step spring, half of the coils have a shorter interval. When the spring is compressed, the intervals shorten. At a certain point, the coils of the closer turns contact. The spring "blocs" and stiffens. Now, only the turns with a greater interval keep working. The suspension comfort and the vehicle response drop rapidly. Unfortunately, one needs more than 2 steps for driving because the powers occur progressively. That means, hardly any powers are needed to let the spring deflect. Though, the higher the power which affect the carriage, the more antagonising power of the spring. The result is a n essentially improved drivability, an improved braking action (because the front does not descend as much), an increased stability - and thus, an overall improved driving safety.   Scope of Delivery: 1 Set Forks springs Detailed mounting Instruction 2 Liter matching fork oil SAE 10 Paste to improve glide characteristics of fork tubes Set-Up Informationen   Fits for all: Yamaha Tenere 700 2019 - 2024 Yamaha Tenere 700 Rally Edition 2020 - 2024

The coiling of this springs for the Tenere 700 is linear, that means that the the spring has the same Nm over the complete travel. So perfect for an adventure bike with long fork travel. Progression of the fork is done by setting the oil level (air chamber) to the needed value by adding or removing oil. The springs are, depending on the spring rate, about 5 - 20% harder than oem Yamaha springs. OEM springs have 5.8 N/mm   Both the range and the extensive test programme using a computer-operated test-bench which simulates the hardest driving situations guarantee that, in combination with the series spring elements, you are driving the optimal solution for your Tenere ! This fork springs are manufactured from the highest grade Chrome Silicone wire, each spring is cold coiled, heat treated, pre set and ground to length before being polished for ultimate performance.
