This is an old saying, but it's message is still relevant! Especially the torque optimized 660 engines profits a lot from this modification.
The power and the torque will rise over the hole range - more power in all situations.You do not have to change any more parts that the piston, cylinder and the gaskets.

The new low-friction plating is a extremly high grade plating that works perfectly with all kind of piston rings. The new honing is necessary concerning the correct running clearance and the surface roughness adequately to the piston rings.
We do the following on your cylinder
· de-monting, cleaning and glass bead blasting
· boring of the cylinder up to the needed size
· exact honing of the cylinder (cross-grinding!) up to the needed measurement
· new coating of the cylinder

Racing forged piston with 100 mm, lighter than the original Yamaha piston and of much higher quality! Piston milled from the solid block of aluminium with excellent craftmanship. Compared to the original we use a bore up to 5 mm larger, the compression ratio is slightly increased to 11.5:1 (original 10:1). Instead of 659 cc, up to 727 cc are now available for the combustion of the mixture. The result is impressive: the pressure in the lower and middle speed range is noticeably higher, almost up to the nominal speed the single-cylinder is now much more powerful. Depending on the stage of expansion, the increase in power is up to 5 hp. Racing Camshaft by OTR. Special made for the Yamaha XT-660! You can expect more power and an improved torque. Appr. 5 PS and 4 Nm torque are available. The cam is deliverd in exchange of the old one. We try to always have a suffienct amount of cams for exchange in stock. If this is not the case, you should expect a delivery period of 14 days. Do you want to keep your original cam? No problem! We also offer cams withouth exchange, however, with an extra charge. The camshaft can be used with the original Yamaha valve springs. Note: Exchange camshafts must not be defective!
